Kai Johnson is an experienced leader in international and experiential education, with a career spanning over two decades across South Asia and the United States. He currently serves as Director of Operations at Tergar Schools, where he oversees the development of contemplative K–12 education initiatives in Nepal and beyond.

Kai began his career leading gap year and study abroad programs in India, Nepal, and Bhutan, facilitating transformative learning experiences for high school and college students. He first connected with Buddhism on these programs, and has been deepening that connection over fifteen years. He later served as Country Director for experiential education programming in India and Nepal and founded a new gap year department for neurodivergent youth with the Forman School in Connecticut.

Most recently, Kai served as the Center Manager at the Land of Medicine Buddha FPMT center in California, where he directed operations and several other departments. Kai brings a systems-based approach to organizational development and is deeply committed to the transformative power of education.
