The grounds of Tergar School came alive once again as students gathered to share their learning journey at the Second Trimester Learning Exhibition. Held just before the winter break, this exhibition showcased not only the continued academic growth of our students but also their deepening understanding of the interconnectedness between knowledge, compassion, and community.
A New Generation Steps Forward
One of the most striking aspects of this exhibition was the leadership shown by younger students. While traditionally the senior Grade 6 students would lead the opening ceremonies; guiding prayers and meditation, this time students from Grades 2, 3, and 5 were entrusted with this role. This passing of the torch demonstrated not only the confidence these younger students have developed, but also the school’s commitment to nurturing leadership at every level.
The program began with the national anthem, followed by prayers that set a contemplative tone for the day. These young students then guided the entire gathering through a meditation session. With calm voices and steady presence, they led everyone through moments of mindfulness, beautifully demonstrating that inner confidence and responsibility can be nurtured at every age.
A Tapestry of Learning
As guests moved through the exhibition, they encountered a rich variety of projects that invited participation and sparked curiosity. The displays were as diverse as the students themselves, each reflecting months of dedicated learning and creative exploration.
A thought-provoking interactive board asked visitors a fundamental question: “What is Awareness?” Guests were invited to draw and paint their interpretations, creating a collective visual dialogue about consciousness and mindfulness, a fitting reflection of Tergar School’s values. The “Wonder Wall” invited another layer of participation, asking audiences to share what they typically wonder about, prompting reflection on the ‘why, how and who’ of learning.
Across the exhibition, students showcased an impressive range of projects spanning science, culture, craft, and more. Among the highlights was an ingenious water xylophone that demonstrated principles of sound and vibration, delighting visitors with both its scientific merit and musical charm. Grade 2 students impressed guests with their creative cardboard chocolate house, showing that even the youngest learners could tackle complex construction projects with imagination and determination.
A particularly notable addition this trimester was the data analysis presentations. Students brought their research to life, sharing findings from surveys they had conducted within their own classrooms. They had collected and organized information on topics like favorite foods, games, and fruits, demonstrating not just mathematical skills, but an understanding of how data can reveal patterns and insights about the communities we live in.
Interactive storytelling sessions captivated audiences throughout the day, while engaging trivia games tested visitors’ knowledge and kept energy levels high. Throughout the school, walls became galleries, showcasing student artwork that added color and vibrancy to every space. The students’ painted faces added a playful touch, transforming the exhibition into a true celebration.
A Space for Stillness
Balancing the interactive energy of the main exhibition spaces, a separate room was dedicated to guided meditation. Led by a group of students, this quiet sanctuary offered visitors the opportunity to step away from the bustling displays and experience the contemplative practices that ground daily life at Tergar School. For many guests, these moments of guided stillness provided a meaningful counterpoint to the excitement of the exhibition. This balance between energetic exploration and mindful reflection once again highlighted the unique rhythm of learning at Tergar School.
Recognition and Celebration
In a new addition to this trimester’s exhibition, the school management introduced an appreciation session. Students were recognized and awarded for their outstanding projects and presentations, acknowledging not just the final products but the effort, creativity, and growth demonstrated throughout the trimester. This formal recognition added a special dimension to the day, celebrating individual achievements while reinforcing the value the school places on dedication and excellence.
Looking Forward
The Second Trimester Learning Exhibition was a joyful reminder of how much students have grown, not only in knowledge, but in confidence, awareness, and responsibility. As families, friends, and visitors from Karma Lekshey Ling School gathered, explored, and reflected alongside the students, the day stood as a meaningful celebration of learning rooted in curiosity, compassion, and community.
